About the Author

Shari Lawrence Pfleeger is the president of System/Software, Inc., a consultancy specializing in software engineering and technology, and she frequently teaches graduate and honors courses in the University of Maryland's Computer Science Department. Pfleeger is well known for her work in empirical studies of software engineering and has published numerous books and papers on the subject. The Journal of Systems and Software has repeatedly named Pfleeger one of the world's top software engineering researchers. Currently, she is an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, and a member of the editorial board of Prentice Hall's Software Quality Institute series.
